Filigree cloakpin

Story: So the jewelers guild that my girlfriend and i belong too, have a few jewelry cases at the largest rock and gem show in Canada. They were asking the members to make some sort of pin or broach, so i decided to go the opposite rout of everyone else in the group and make myself a cloakpin. As one of the ladies in the group pointed out it works amazingly well as a hair tie.

Circle: Made from high temperage aircraft aluminum.

Size: Outer diameter 3"

Process:
1-Designed in photoshop and printed out on paper

2-glued paper too metal with glue-stick

3-drilled holes with #70 drillbit

4-Hand sawed center area, then filigree areas with a self tensioning jewelers saw and 3 ought blades

5- hand filed the seperate levels then beveled the filigree areas

6-sanding and polished



Center Pin: Square bar aluminum stock

Process:
1-cut proper length of stock

2-inserted into vice and turned by hand with a cresent wrench to achieve spiral

3-hand filed grip area and piercing point.
